The automated update of prices and dividends is one of the key time saving features Share Trade Tracker offers. It creates a list of securities from your portfolios and then extracts the last traded price or dividend details for each security and returns it the workbook for analysis and display in the worksheet's.
Share Trade Tracker has been designed to provide FREE data sources where possible for price and dividend information. This is typically sufficient for most Share Trade Tracker users, but issues in reliability and accuracy can be found with the FREE data sources. As a result Share Trade Tracker now includes a number of paid data source options that are directly integrated, these include EOD Historical and Norgate Data.
Prices
On entry to Share Trade Tracker you will be directed to setup your Data Source via the Welcome form. You can review you Data Source setup anytime via Configuration and then Data Source. For the configuration there are two (2) Data Sources that need to be setup, one for Prices and one for Dividends. We will start with the setup of Prices.
Once you select the option for 'Set Price Data Source', you will see two (2) different configurations one for End of Day prices which will be used to list the latest price for your open trades and one for Historical prices which is used to populate the price for reports.
End of Day & Historical Prices
The options for prices are:
You need to make a selection for both the End of Day and Historical prices for all the features of Share Trade Tracker to function. We strongly recommend for new users that don't have an existing subscription to EOD Historical or Norgate Data to leave the default setting to Yahoo as this will ensure an automated data source.
After selecting the preferred option for each of the price configurations you simply select 'Update' to store the configuration into the settings for Share Trade Tracker. That data source will then be used for 'Update Prices' and 'Security Check' options in the ribbon and as part of the historical Reports generated.

We suggest that you contact those data source providers and request that they add the missing security to their database. In most cases they are able to do this with 24 hours of notification
